Doing a Veeam Endpoint silent setup is quite simple:
If you plan to deploy the new Veeam Endpoint Version 1.5 as an update in your network, then its really no big thing.
In my case I used a Kaspersky Security Center to deploy the software, I’m confident that every other deployment solution will do this also quite well.
Everything you have to do is to extract the zipped download and add to the .exe the /silent switch. Now start the deployment and the clients will be upgraded to the new version.
Two things I came across:
- There is no need to recreate the recovery medium
- The tray icon doesn’t come up again after setup finishes
You don’t have to create a new recovery medium until you don’t change your PE-environment, e.g. if you upgrade from Windows 8 to 10 or if you don’t want to use the improvements which came with the new version.
The tray icon doesn’t come up again, but the Veeam Endpoint service will be restarted. The icon isn’t needed to run the scheduled backups, meaning your backups will run fine that day and the icon will be there again if you just start VEB, or if you restart / power cycle your computer.
